How Far is It and How to Get There?

There are two ways to get to Carolina Dunes - driving and flying. The closest international airport is in Norfolk, VA (ORF). After landing in Norfolk, you will then head south on NC-168 and US-158 where you will drive over the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge. When you get to the road signs pointing to NC12 North, you will turn left. Continue on Hwy 12 N (also known as Ocean Trail) and you will get to the quaint town of Duck. (If you go further north, you will eventually get to Corolla.) Follow NC12 north until you see the Carolina Dunes sign on the right.

What Are the Access Points to Community Beaches?

The community has three beach accesses using a private walkway:

1. Between Springtail Drive and Canvasback Drive

2. Between Canvasback Drive and Wood Duck Drive

3. Between Pintail Drive and Widgeon Drive

If you would like to visit the soundside pier, you can access it from the soundside end of Canvasback Drive. From this pier, you will be able to catch an amazing Outer Banks sunset. Make sure you take some pictures!

What are the Community Restrictions in Carolina Dunes?

Carolina Dunes requests that you take all of your beach belongings - chair, umbrella, canopy, etc. - with you when you leave the beach. Any items left on the beach overnight are subject to confiscation.

The use of any and all fireworks is illegal anywhere within the Town of Duck, which includes all of Carolina Dunes.

Bonfires on the beach are illegal.

What Amenities Do Carolina Dunes Rentals Have to Offer?

Carolina Dunes is conveniently located within walking distance of the ocean, sound, and jogging/bike paths. Cherish the stunning ocean views or sound views from the crest of the sand dune or relax on the wide ocean beaches. You will revel in the peacefulness of this quiet beach neighborhood. 

Spend your days basking in the sun at the beach access or lounging by your private pool. In the evenings, relax in the tub letting the jets massage your body. In the mornings, grab a cup of coffee and venture out to the spacious decks or balconies that adorn your vacation property.

Don't forget to bring your bikes. You will want to leave your car at the house while you venture through Duck for a bike ride. Admire the local shops as you walk the soundfront boardwalk. Duck Village is composed of shopping, dining, and beach stores. Do not miss an opportunity to catch some live music at Duck Town Park and/or local bars. When the time comes to eat, swing into one of the well-established and popular restaurants and delight in a scrumptious spread of local seafood or American cuisine.

This community boasts three options for beach access. Being this accessible allows for a nice walk to the ocean views.
