Where is Nags Head Shores Located?

This particular community offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and is conveniently located just a short walk away from the majestic Jockey's Ridge State Park, the largest living sand dune on the East Coast. How Far Is It and How to Get There?

There are two ways to get to Nags Head - driving and flying. The closest international airport is in Norfolk, VA (ORF). After landing in Norfolk, you will then head south on NC-168 and US-158 where you will drive over the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge. When you get to the road signs pointing you to NC12 North, you will stay straight and proceed through the towns of Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills down Croatan Highway, Nags Head. Around milepost 10.5, turn left onto E. Admiral Street. Once you get to S. Va Dare Trail, turn left. The Nags Head Shores community will be on your right.

Can You Bring Alcohol to Nags Head Shores?

Yes, visitors are permitted to bring and enjoy alcohol within Nags Head Shores and on the town beaches. We ask that you drink responsibly and follow all local regulations. Also, please keep the beaches clean and do not leave empty cans and bottles. Note that open containers in a vehicle are illegal in North Carolina.

Smoking is allowed in designated outdoor areas of Nags Head Shores. Please be considerate of others and dispose of smoking materials responsibly to maintain the natural beauty of our beaches. We do ask that you keep our Nags Head vacation rentals smoke-free.

For safety reasons, the use of fireworks is prohibited in Nags Head Shores and throughout Dare County and the Outer Banks. We value the protection of our community and the environment. The Outer Banks does have several places to watch fireworks on the 4th of July.
