How Far Is It and How to Get There?

There are two ways to get to Hatteras Island - driving and flying. The closest international airport is in Norfolk, VA (ORF). After landing in Norfolk, you will then head south on NC-168 and US-158 where you will drive over the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge. When you get to the road signs pointing you to NC12 North, you will stay straight. Continue down Croatan Highway through Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, and Nags Head. You will eventually turn left onto Cape Hatteras National Park Rd. Follow RT12 South for quite a while before you come to Hatteras island Reserve on North Carolina Hwy 12 in Hatteras, NC 27943

If you are coming from the West, you will follow 64E into Dare County, then take a slight right onto S Va Dare Trail. You will turn right onto Cape Hatteras National Park Rd. Follow RT12 South for quite a while before you come to Hatteras Island Reserve located on North Carolina Hwy 12, Hatteras, NC 27943

Hatteras Island Reserve is located near popular Cape Hatteras National Seashore attractions such as the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, the Billy Mitchell Airstrip and 4x4 beach access like Cape Point,  Buxton Woods Coastal Reserve, the Hatteras-Ocracoke Ferry, the Rodanthe Pier, the Avon Pier, and more. 

What Are the Things That I Should Know Before Booking in Hatteras Island Reserve?

These units are located at the very south end of the Outer Banks, providing the ultimate experience of a vacation rental community far away from big box hotels and chain restaurants. Hatteras Island is great for outdoor activities like surf fishing, kiteboarding, driving on the 4x4 beaches, touring lighthouses, hiking nature trails, surfing, and more. There are no chain businesses on Hatteras Island except for one Subway and Dairy Queen in Avon! We recommend you grab groceries before heading down to Hatteras. You can grab groceries at Food Lion in Avon, or grab something convenient by shopping at Conner's Supermarket or the Village Red and White Market in town.

Children of any age are allowed. No extra beds are available such as cots.

Is There a View of the Ocean? How Far From the Ocean is This Unit?

At Hatteras Island Reserve, every home has a great view of the ocean and dunes. The Atlantic Ocean is right in front of you. You'll also have a great view of the sunset over the Albemarle Sound. In the distance to the north, you'll see Cape Hatteras Lighthouse at Night.

Are There Restaurants Nearby Hatteras Island Reserve

Hatteras Island Reserve is within walking distance to a local favorite, Kat's Deli. There are several other restaurants just a short drive away including Hatteras Sol, Scratchmade Snackery, Breakwater Restaurant, Sonny's Waterfront Restaurant, Dinky's Waterfront Restaurant, Snack Shack, and Harbor Deli.

Are Pets Allowed in Hatteras Island Reserve

All of the vacation rentals at Hatteras Island Reserve are pet-friendly! For a small one-time fee of $135, you can bring up to two dogs to our pet-friendly property. No cats or other animals, dogs only.
