Things To Know For Your Pets In Kill Devil Hills

Leash and Beach Laws

Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, dogs are not allowed on the beaches in Kill Devil Hills from the hours of 9am until 6pm, unless the dog is assisting an individual or is a service animal.

During the off-season, dogs are allowed on the beach but must always remain on a leash.

Please remember to be courteous and respect the safety and property of other dogs and humans by picking up after your pet on the beach and around town.

Dog-Friendly Activities in Kill Devil Hills

Want to bring your furry best friend with you to the beach during peak season? Consider driving to one of the beaches in either Kitty Hawk or Nags Head where your pup can be allowed to run and play in the the water and sand on a leash!

The Wright Brothers National Memorial is an absolute must-see during your visit to the Outer Banks! Gaze up at the magnificent granite monument which sits atop the hill where Wilbur and Orville Wright changed the world on December 17th, 1903 with wings and a dream. The beautiful manicured fields are the perfect place to take your pet for a leisurely stroll, but leashes are required. Pets are not permitted inside of the buildings at the location of the Memorial.

Paws Park is a well-loved location among locals and is located within walking distance of the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Pups can play in the three shaded, fully fenced grassy areas for small, senior, and large active dogs. Located in Aviation Park, you will find a lovely, paved walking path with pond views and twinkle lights, a skatepark, a roller hockey rink, and a children’s playground surrounding the dog park playing area.
