Things To Know For Your Pets In Nags Head

Leash and Beach Laws

Dogs are permitted on the beach year-round as long as they are restrained by a leash no longer than 10 feet. Although they are permitted all year, please remember that if the sand is too hot for your feet, it's definitely too hot for your dog's feet!

We encourage you to also be courteous and respect the safety and property of other dogs and humans by picking up after your pet on the beach and around town.

Dog-Friendly Activities in Nags Head

Your dog will love the Nags Head Dog Park. This park is fairly new to the Outer Banks. It is free and open to the public. Located on the grounds of the Dare County Recreation Park at 227 West Satterfield Landing Road, this park boasts separate large and small-dog fenced-in areas, with plenty of room for dog play. Water and doggie waste bags are also available. Please note that the park's water spigot is turned off during the winter months.

Nags Head is also the host of several parks as well as nature walking trails. Grab a frisbee and play with your dog on the grounds of Dowdy Park or when it's time to go for a walk, get some exercise for both of you at Nags Head Town Park or Nags Head Woods Preserve.

If you get the need for some kibble nibbles, Nags Head is of course the home of fabulous restaurants which are dog-friendly! Local favorites include Mulligan's Bar and Grill, Blue Moon Grill, Waveriders Coffee and Deli, and Booty Treats Ice Cream and Shave.

There is a PetSmart store located in Nags Head as well. Not only can you shop while on your Outer Banks vacation, but your pets can as well!
