How Far Is It and How to Get There?

There are two ways to get to the Villas of Corolla Bay in Corolla - driving and flying. The closest international airport is in Norfolk, VA (ORF). After landing in Norfolk, you will then head south on NC-168 and US-158 where you will drive over the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge. When you get to the road signs pointing you to NC12 North, you will turn left. Continue Hwy 12 N (also known as Ocean Trail), through the Town of Duck and you will arrive at Corolla. Continue through the town and turn right onto Herring Street. You will take another right when you see the sign for the Villas of Corolla Bay.

What are Some of the Things to Do in the Villas at Corolla Bay?

The most fun and relaxing activity is enjoying the vast and beautiful beaches of Corolla on the Atlantic Ocean. There are restaurants, eateries, and local stores nearby you can visit during your stay. The Villas of Corolla Bay have a convenient bike path which makes it even easier to explore while leaving your car at the rental home. Being surrounded by water, you can rent some paddleboards, kayaks, and any beach gear you may have forgotten. You will see many visitors riding around in rented golf carts as well. Just be careful when driving these and obey traffic laws.

A few miles up the road, you will come to the historic Currituck Lighthouse, Whalehead Club, and the historic Corolla Village which are iconic locations on the Outer Banks. The 4x4 area in Corolla is where the wild horses roam. There are a few companies that do horse tours. You should definitely check it out!

The Herring Beach Access is within walking distance from the Villas of Corolla Bay. There are several other beach accesses along Lighthouse Drive in Corolla.

Here you will find several places of interest including Mike Dianna's Grill Room, La Dolce Vita, and North Banks Restaurant and Raw Bar. Across Route 12 from this shopping center, you will find Bernie's Brother Tropical Grill and Bar, Broken Plate Kitchen, and Lighthouse Bagels. There are also grocery stores around the Villas of Corolla Bay should you wish to pick up some extra items.
