How Far is It and How To Get There?

There are two ways to get to the Lighthouse Villas in the Corolla Light community in Corolla, North Carolina - driving and flying. The closest international airport is in Norfolk, VA (ORF). After landing in Norfolk, you will then head south on NC-168 and US-158 (Croatan Hwy) where you will drive over the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge. When you get to the road signs pointing you to NC12 North, you will turn left. (If you continue straight, you will come to the towns of Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head.) Continue Hwy 12 N (also known as Ocean Trail), through the Town of Duck and you will arrive at Corolla. You pass the Sports Center on your left and eventually turn right onto Austin Street. The Lighthouse Villas will be on your right.

What are The Things That Are Prohibited in Corolla Light?

The Lighthouse Villas is part of the Corolla Light community, thus all guests there must follow the rules and regulations set forth by them. Rules and restrictions include:

There is no parking on the streets, grass or side of the road.

No RV’s, ATV’s, campers, golf carts, gas or electric scooters, or boats allowed in the community.

Trailers, boats (on boat trailers only), and jet skis (on trailer only) are allowed to be parked on the property ONLY if they fit in the “carport” or “under the house”. If the home has no space under it, it cannot be parked in the community.

Please do not leave any beach gear - chairs, canopies, umbrellas, etc. - on the beach and/or on the walkways throughout the community. Any items left after sunset will be subject to confiscation.

Remember that these rules are for the safety of all of our guests. We prioritize the safety and comfort of all our guests. Please try and abide by all of the posted rules and restrictions.

What Amenities Does Lighthouse Villas Offer?

Children and adults who stay at the Lighthouse Villas will be able to enjoy all of the community amenities and services offered by the Corolla Light Resort. You will be amazed at all of the things that Corolla Light offers.

The location of the Lighthouse Villas is right across from the Oceanfront Clubhouse. This area contains an Oceanfront Clubhouse with two pools, a baby swimming pool, basketball courts, volleyball, and shuffleboard courts as well as a playground. There is a snack/gift shop and also an outside shower. There is a beach walkway near the clubhouse which allows access to the beach. Can you believe how close your vacation rental is to the ocean?

Throughout the Corolla Light community, you will discover eight outdoor tennis courts, a Currituck soundside pool and picnic area with gazebo, a soundfront pier, volleyball court, and walking and bike paths. If you want to go fishing, there is even a fishing pond (catch and release only, please). With the Lighthouse Villas so close to the Currituck Sound, there is ample opportunity to enjoy the many water activities available. Rent a kayak, stand up paddleboard, and/or jet ski.

A short distance south on Highway 12 you will come to the indoor sports center. In the indoor sports center is a lap pool, racquetball courts, walleyball courts, indoor tennis courts, aerobic room, hot tub, sauna, and both a cardio room and weight room.

The Corolla Light Association uses armbands to gain access to these community amenities. Outer Banks rentals are provided with armbands for use of the facilities.

Catch a ride on the Corolla Light Trolley which has stops located throughout the resort. This free trolley service will take you and your guests wherever needed within the community.

The location of Corolla Light is convenient to local restaurants, grocery stores, beach shops, boutiques, and attractions such as the Whalehead Club, Currituck Lighthouse, and even the 4x4 area of Corolla. It is also close to the Tim Buck II shopping center, Monterey Plaza, and a movie theater. For the golfers of the group, the Resort is only about 5 miles away from The Currituck Club, a beautiful golf course.

There are certainly more than enough family-friendly activities to please the whole family on their Outer Banks vacation.

Please note that private outdoor community swimming pools that are available, weather permitting, beginning on Memorial Day and close after Labor Day. Pool operating dates are subject to change at any point, for any reason.
